Here are a few of our stories on Edwin Edwards: In 2014, three years after his release from prison, Edwards made the run-off in an election for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District. After his last term in office, Edwards served eight years in federal prison on racketeering, extortion, money laundering, mail fraud, and wire fraud charges. He later served as Louisiana’s 50th Governor from 1972-1980, 1984-1988, and 1992-1996 and holds the distinction as Louisiana’s only four-term governor. Edwards, a native of Avoyelles Parish and resident of Crowley, represented Louisiana’s 7th Congressional District from 1965-1972. Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards has died at age 93.
